What to wear on your Brand Photoshoot (Without Overthinking It)

One of the biggest questions I get before a shoot is: “What should I wear?”

And honestly, I get it. You want to look like yourself, feel comfortable and make sure your outfit actually works for your brand! The good news? It doesn’t have to be complicated.

Here are a few simple tips to help you decide what to wear at your brand shoot:

Comfort is key

My first piece of advice is to wear something you feel comfortable in, because that then translates to confidence! If you feel awkward in your outfit, it’ll show. Pick clothes you can move in, sit in and feel good wearing. Confidence really does shine through more than any specific style!

Dress for your brand

My second tip is to think about the vibe you want people to get from your photos.

  • Are you fun and approachable? Go bold with colour or something a little playful.

  • Want to present as professional and polished? Keep it simple and smart.

  • Creative and relaxed? Layers, textures or casual pieces can work perfectly.

Your clothes should feel like an extension of your brand, not a costume! Ask yourself what you’d usually wear when working within your small biz.

Bring a good few options

I recommend prioritising two to three key outfits that you just LOVE! It will give you some variety in your gallery, and even small swaps - like adding a blazer, a jacket or popping on a bright accessory - can completely switch up the look. I’m happy to chat through your options and offer advice prior to our shoot!

Keep it simple

Logos, big text or super busy patterns can distract from you. Solid colours, subtle patterns and nice textures always photograph well.

Play with colour

Wearing colours that compliment your brand colours is always a win, but don’t be afraid to add in shades that make you feel confident. Think calming blues, uplifting yellows or classic neutrals - you know what suits you best.

Don’t forget the little details

Your accessories, shoes, hair, nails - that’s if they matter to you usually! Keep it simple and true to your everyday style. Don’t be going full glam if that’s not your usual vibe.
