Forest is a talented ceramicist, and the face behind Together by Nature, based in the Kent countryside. On a breezy day at Moat Farm, Ashford, I had the joy of documenting one of Together by Nature’s Botanical Plate Workshops. Guided by Forest, these sessions are rooted in her belief that creativity and connection with the natural world go hand in hand.

The day began outdoors, foraging through fields and hedgerows. With baskets in hand, we gathered grasses, leaves and wildflowers - small pieces of the landscape that would soon leave their imprint in clay. There was a quiet rhythm to it, everyone pausing to notice textures, shapes and patterns that might otherwise be overlooked. We even got to taste some of the plants, with Forest’s excellent knowledge!

Back in the workshop, Forest guided us through the process of pressing our foraged finds into soft clay, revealing delicate botanical prints that felt both organic and unique. Each plate told its own unique story - traces of the farm, all captured in earth and form.

Capturing Together by Nature’s Botanical Plate Workshop, I wanted to reflect the blend of creativity and connection that Forest nurtures so naturally. Hands shaping clay, laughter shared over the table, and quiet, focused moments where the space settled with concentration - it all came together as a visual story of making, learning and being inspired by the landscape around us.
